What to see

The Sanctuary of Fátima, located in the city of Fátima, Portugal, is one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage centers in the world. This sacred place attracts millions of faithful and tourists every year, who come from different parts of the world to renew their faith, seek spiritual inspiration or simply get to know the history and beauty of the place.

History: The Shrine was erected in honor of the Virgin Mary's apparitions to the three shepherd children - Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta - between May and October 1917. During these apparitions, Our Lady asked for prayers and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and left messages of peace and love that continue to echo today.

The Shrine Complex:

  • Little Chapel of the Apparitions: The exact spot where the Virgin appeared, a simple space charged with spirituality.
  • Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary: In neo-Baroque style, it houses the tombs of the three little shepherds and impresses with its serenity.
  • Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity: A modern and grandiose structure with a capacity for 8,000 people, ideal for hosting large celebrations.
  • Prayer Area: A large esplanade where the main religious ceremonies take place, especially the candlelight processions at night.
